Are these definitions of recreational sex accurate? That is one of the questions that I will try to answer through this blog as I examine recreational sex from several perspectives and look at the ups and downs (pun intended) of taking part in recreational sex. My perspective in writing this blog is obviously somewhat skewed, making my living as a male escort and getting paid to have sex with wonderful and beautiful women all the time, but as I consider recreational sex in this blog I will make every attempt to include the perspective of others as well.
But first things first – let us try to more clearly define “Recreational Sex.” I think we can effectively eliminate Wikipedia's description of it as part of swinging, with an explicit intention to avoid an emotional connection. This can be eliminated for two reasons;
- Most swingers do not go out with “an explicit intention to avoid an emotional connection.” In fact you will find that many, if not most of those involved in the swinging life style get to know the people they partner up with and often join together with these same people over and over. The friendships and knowledge of each other only serves to improve the sexual interactions.
- Recreational sex and swinging are not one and the same thing. Yes you can have recreational sex when you are swinging. Yes you can be a swinger while having recreational sex. Swinging however, is a lifestyle, a culture unto itself. Recreational sex can be as simple as two strangers meeting in a coffee shop, hooking up and having a fun roll in the sack, and never seeing or talking to each other again.
Is this a full and accurate definition of recreational sex. Absolutely not! We will likely never come up with a definition that will make everyone happy, but I encourage comments and feedback and maybe together we can come up with something that is reasonably accurate.
