In this world, is there ever a way to know, and I mean really know, that you will appreciate a person for who they are, at a glance? Is there such a thing as "love at first sight"? I'm talking about the real kind of love here, not just the kind that just gets you a little wet between the legs, but to truly take in a person, another soul, and accept them?
My answer to this question is yes, and I will try to explain why below. I'd really appreciate any input, I want to know what everyone thinks about this :)
Because Love does not require that we know everything about a person. There is no "amount" of knowledge a person needs to have of another before they can say they love them, and as we all know, people are not static, we are always changing! And so, it follows that if people remain in love for a period of time, their love has also changed, grown, and spread it's branches.
Simply, you have a feeling about the person. They behave in a way that you appreciate, and respect. Their values and yours can mingle and be friends, and this is usually something you can tell about a person within just the first 30 seconds of hearing them speak, because we convey such a great volume of our personalities, thoughts, and beliefs, simply by what we say and how we say it.
Sure, love needs to be cultivated, and sure, there are other tracks the love-train takes- but through this model, love at first sight isn't just possible, but a perfectly legitimate form of love, wouldn't you say?
I believe people find echoes of their souls across the clines. For me, a soul isn't something that is perfect, static, pure, or never-changing. I don't find the idea of permanence to be very compelling, save perhaps when it comes to God. It is something we are born with, something we cultivate throughout our lives. We are basically growing our souls in the soft Earth. Every now and again, one will find someone who's soul compliments their own. They will see echoes of themselves, plus traits they admire. That's love.
Maybe thats a little bit egotistical.
