Just as i saw her she was gone. I awaken shaking from the dream, how i had longed to see my mother again.. Just to talk to her. No one could tell us how she passed, just that they had found her body, lifeless by the light house.. There hadn't appeared to be any foul play, but no determination as to what caused her death.. I received the phone call that i needed to catch the plane and get home.. Ryan of course had to follow me out.. we had been dating on an off for three years, unable to fall in love with him, as my heart has always been else where. I dreaded his following suit.
Sitting at the kitchen table i pull out her will along with my Fathers, i begin to read line by line what his wishes were when he passed, and then her's, They were always so close, even in their will's they were so familiar.. My Fathers reads as such,
I Richard Harold Hought HEREBY REVOKE all former Wills and testamentary dispositions made by me AND DECLARE this to be my last Will which I make this13th day of May one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight. I appoint my Spouse Elizabeth May Hought to be Executor and Trustee of this my Will.
1) All estate pertaining to My Hotel debois be left to the a fore mentioned spouse, All expenses paid in full. Should she pass before My Daughter Jacey lynn Hought, It as well as all profits, be given to and turned over to the Home for Wayward children, to be closed down to the public and used for the purpose of housing for a fore mentioned children.. As My Great Grandmothers wishes were so shall it be.
2) All personal belongings to be left solely to a fore mentioned spouse and daughter, Elizabeth May Hought, as well as Jacey May Hought.
AS I read this line i held onto his wedding ring that i have worn around my neck since his accident on the boat that year.. My mothers will had read almost the exact same way the only difference being she left her castle, the light house and everything therein to me, How could i let this go? This place holds every memory i have ever had, i grew up in this Castle. Fell in love with Don while here, though he never knew, nor would give me the time of day. My handsome tall dark haired dream man..
3) My Lovely beautiful daughter Jacey May Hought upon finishing her degree shall inherit The remaining estate Point Harbor Vale, Should She choose not to accept She shall leave the a fore mentioned Estate to Donald A Masterson.
I guess i was to young back then to have understood this, I had not noticed he thought so highly of the man I was deeply in love with. Odd, how i could ever be in love with someone who does not know i exist.. How could he have left part of his estate to him.. Frustrated with my love for this man, i decided to take a break, am going to relax myself down by the ocean..
In my red silk bathrobe, i slip on my slippers open the door breathing in that freshness, The air felt different today there was an oddness within it. I just shrugged it off, then began my decent down to the beach.. With each step i took i devoured the scenery, this walk way always reminded me of a fairy tale, colonnaded marble blue pearl in color, I had always thought the ocean accented it.. The arch way above it like a lace, I would twirl around the entire time while i was out here as a child.. Just like i used to, i start Twirling around as i make my way down.. Stopping only to slow the dizziness.. How i do miss my mother calling out to me.. "little Miss Jacey you be care full now, should anything dreadful" I'd call back " Oh Mamma i wont fall over the edge".
Always loved this side of the walk way, I stop for a moment, lean over the edge to soak in the view of the ocean clashing against the side of mountain, the mist touching my face,
I imagine Don walking with me, leaning over to look with me, holding me embracing my lips with his own, to feel his touch along my body. Foolish me in all my wishful thinking.. I sigh, then turn twirling the rest of the way.. At the bottom of the walk way, the view of the ocean takes my breath, For that brief moment i forget my Mother is gone.. She would always sit with me me here, for hours we would talk about anything, everything, she knew all my deepest thoughts about Ryan, Don. Absolutely every thing, my fears of leaving home to pursue my fathers dream for me. In that moment i turn to tell her something, when the reality hit home.
Tears filled my eyes, i quickly wipe them away as if someone would see my tears..." It is not the Hought way to show emotions, Jacey Lynn" Cringing at the memory of those words, In that retrospect this was the only difference in view for my parents.. She would except it even allow it. He was not an emotional man ever.
Looking out over the ocean from the light house, he notices something off in the distance, Grabbing the binoculars he looks to see what it is that has caught his attention. Through the lens he see's her, Her beautiful long blonde hair down upon her back.. her red satin robe flowing freely behind her.. She turns around he wants to see her face, Yet her Hair waving in the air it covers her face, so he can not see who it is.. Her white transparent lacy gown clinging to her breast, Mesmerized by her presence on that beach, he watches intently.. Dropping her robe to the ground she stands before the ocean, reaching up she grabs hold of the straps of her gown it falls graciously, Her back exposed to him he can not help but notice her beautiful curves, Turn around oh please just turn around, he thinks to himself, heart racing with anticipation of finding out who she is.. He has not recognized that it was her.. Not a thought in the world that it could be Jacey.. He just watches as the waves come up to her thighs.. she pushes forward into the wave.. causing him to lose sight of her for a brief moment.. As she comes up out of the ocean he gets called away, "Don Oh Don can you come down here?" Oh Damn it to hell, William! What is it? what is it that you can not for one second handle your self?" Frustrated that he did not find out who she was, he sets the binoculars down, turns around heading down the light house steps..
