I now promise to:
Live my life like I'm 29, not 39, not 19. I WILL stop worrying about growing older and face my late 20's/early 30's with maturity.
Celebrate life everyday with vigor, and the fact that despite my health, I still have a decent brain in my head and a furious ambition and passion to learn and apply musical and cultural concepts to life in general. I will continue to learn as many musical pieces as possible-through rote and not even playing them.
Not let Ehlers-Danlos disease, the fact that I walk with a cane, can't use my left side or any of the forthcoming surgeries affect me whatsoever mentally. I WILL go through with physio, stregthen my tendons and try to do the best I can at beating an incurable disease. I will listen to my dietician and intake whatever proteins/vitamins I need. That way when arthristis, osteo, myofascial ect come I will be physically stronger than I am now.
To be more social-This is HUGE! Ever since losing my mobility (I can't sit up straight, let alone drive a car!) I have sunken into more of a reclusive state. Don't get me wrong, I will not give up my quirky learning and studying habits, but I WILL meet and talk to more people my age, not just older musicians and teachers.
I WILL establish a sex life and/or get back into dating-I hope the docs can give me some kind of natural remedy to restore my erection ability. I know it sounds WAY bizarre to me, as I've always only had sex when I am dating or when it is around, I don't actively seek it. It will be kind new to me, as I would prefer staying home and reading musical manuscripts or watching basketball, but I will no longer "geek out" to an excessive point. I am too young not to "experiment" more (I've never tried it on the beach!)
I WILL let go of my ego as much as possible and let go of as many fears as possbile! I won't give a fuck what others outside of my mentors/fellowship think of me
I WILL continue to live out my dream by helping others express themselves through music, do my duty as a global citizen and contribute to the world's health as much as I phsyically can, and continue to be as kind, sincere and humble as I can. I will also stay honest, true and sincere to myself and others.
