No I don't have it; I'm 25, work out a lot and maintain normal weight. No smoking, no drinking etc, I live healthy. But my bf's 55 and overweight so I research these things to prevent him from developing this stuff.

I stopped taking insulin (on my own) when I was about 17, fed up with how I felt. A type 1 would typically go into a coma, pass out, get very sick, something, within a day or so. I went three years without touching insulin. I didn't check my blood sugar. Ate whatever I wanted. Even had cotton candy at an amusement park. I always felt fine. Maybe sleepy and thirsty! But no dizziness, no infections, no comas!
Finally, I knew I had to start taking care of myself at some point so I went back to the doctor and confessed that I hadn't touched insulin in years. He almost passed out right there! He said there was no way I would be alive. Thus, he concluded I must be a rare case where a child gets Type 2 (usually takes pills, not insulin) but is not obese or overweight.
I started Type 2 meds last spring, lost 30 lbs within accouple months, and have never felt better.
That's my story!! =)
