A couple of thoughts -
Hemorrhoids are around the anus already; practically everyone has them. It's the inflammation of hemorrhoids that cause discomfort and issues. Can anal play cause inflammation of hemorrhoids? Absolutely, and most likely because of irritation from friction, but not really because of "size."
The best thing to help is simply time. Leave your fun hole alone for a while, and give everything some time to recover and heal. When you do enjoy anal play, make sure you use plenty of good-quality lube (but you don't have to get sloppy with it), and make sure things remain enjoyable. If something hurts or is unduly painful, as the old song says, "it's nature's way of telling you something's wrong," and give things a break.
If you're a newcomer to anal sex, take things slowly, and proceed by degrees - start with something small, say 1 inch in diameter or smaller, before moving on to bigger toys and plugs (or cocks).
The anal sphincters are muscles (obviously), and like any other muscle, respond well to gradual and careful stretching exercises and conditioning. Start slow, pay attention to your body, and enjoy yourself. If you try to do too much, too large, too fast, you can cause injury.
