Chronic Itching "down there" (non std)

I've honestly itched my taint area so much that there is now scar tissue, which also itches, and it gets so bad that the process of scratching the itch itself brings about what can best be described as near orgasmic sensations. It's a deep, lingering itch that generally flares up at night. I've tried all sorts of creams, powders, lotions, oils. Nothing works. Anyone else out there ever experience this and have any suggestions for relief? It doesn't get in the way of my sex life, everything works perfectly to that end but my wife looks at me funny sometimes when I'm in deep scratch mode, and I'm worried that I'll scratch too hard and damage the jewels one day.

My gut instinct is: air dry. Sunshine if possible. The dark, moist environment of daily underwear might be contributing to your problem, so getting away from that as much as possible should help.
If nothing else, it's an excuse to go nekkid.

Went to a dermatologist for the last one, because I was worried it was cancer, because it was accompanied by crusting. Got a biopsy done, and no cancer was found. Did an Ultrasound, and regular exam with a Breast Clinic. Still nothing found. So she and the derm stated it as a fungal issue. I hope both are correct.
Then the lower regions. I have been to a few gynos. No yeast infection or STD detected.
It's possible that heat could be your problem With bras and underwear those areas covered by them have more chance to get hot and sweaty, thus causing irritation and certain fungal infections. My itching lessened a good bit when I stopped wearing underwear. The area doesn't get as heated. Maybe you can try that.
Also detergents could cause problems, should you be allergic, or simply using too much. Not to mention soaps. It's best to use plain white soaps, that don't have heavy scents. You can try using just water when you bathe. I believe water is enough to clean you properly.
