Many years ago my grandma died from alzheimers disease, and she was a lover of opera (Pavarotti was her favourite), about a year later my mom asked me to get a song of pavarotti`s Nessun dorma, I had never listened to opera before in my life. I listened to it and my world changed I am a better person for it. My goal here is to post 1 Opera song on here each day if I can so maybe you understand what I felt enjoy. I will post 5 now to make up for the week.

I don't know what's about opera... I've never been introduced properly to the genre, but it all started when I was working my way through college. I was working at a high-end French restaurant and the owner always tuned in on the opera program at CBC right before the evening service started. It just made working so joyful...
I had always admired strong voices that could carry notes at the top of their lungs without a mike, so it was not difficult to start appreciating classically trained voices. Otherwise, my tastes in music are rather mundane.

The piece with Lisa Minelli was incredible joyful to listen... BTW, how old is that woman? She still looks so sexy... I'm sort of a bathroom diva myself, but of course, I can hardly sing or put a note in the right place, but at least that gives me an indication of how hard it is to sing the right note when you're screaming at the top of your lungs.
Anyway, I love contemporary pieces... they're fun and they help to put voices into perspective. So many times, we hear someone sing and we think they're good, but then when Pavarotti sings the same song, we know what the golden standard is...
