Anyway, they're supposed to be made from like Pyrex or whatever--something tempered and not just regular glass. But they also say that if you drop it or something, you aren't supposed to used it anymore in case it got tiny fractures. And I drop stuff, so I haven't even bothered with glass dildos.

You often hear and read about glass sex toys lasting for a lifetime. Most are made from tempered glass. Some are made of Pyrex, which is a brand of tempered glass, that can normally withstand intense heat from microwave ovens and the like. This is a good alternative for cleaning.
Another advantage of glass sex toys is their generally hypoallergenic nature. Since glass is non-porous, germs and bacteria won't attach themselves.
They also make lubes last longer during use.

1) Many say that these can be too heavy. A toy can weigh as much as one pound.
2) They can be damaged if they are dropped on metal or porcelain sinks during clean up. You sure don't want to use a chipped toy when you're playing
3) Others have also complained that glass sex toys can be cold to the skin. Many deal with this by running the glass sex toys on warm water first before using. When this is done, the toys are likely to stay warm throughout its use.

Here's one great one "The Nubbed Rotator" (you get some advantages with a glass sex toy that you can't get with silicone)
The Nubbed Rotator is the perfect purchase for you or your partner, especially if you want to experiment with hygienic glass sex toys. This glass dildo offers a convenient way of hitting that G-spot or P-spot through its knobbed glass handle. For more penetration, the shaft is actually covered with nubs, while the bulb-shaped head has notched grooves for that extra kick.

During sex, in the heat of the moment, my partner accidently dropped it, and it shattered on the floor. During the first time we ever used it.
WASTE of money.

Oh I disagree, having it nice and cold from the refrigerator is so much better :-p That's what I do with mine, though I admit I haven't even taken mine out in quite a while! Anyway I absolutely love how it feels inside me when it's cold
As for them being breakable, well I'm never afraid that it's going to break while I'm using it I would be nervous about using it if I was to drop it on a hard floor from a distance though. Glass cuts inside would not be good!

Very artsy, yes. Some of them will look good on a bookshelf, which is where I keep a few of mine. This one gets an A for sheer joy in both holes:
