Also if you do need to drink to get you started, try to have as absolute little as necessary. Next time have less. Try to cut it down so that you don't need any booze to get shaky. This is exactly how I learned to become comfortable at clubs. I came from a really small town and moved to the city at 21 so I hadn't been at a proper club before. This method worked like a charm. The only difficulty was meeting enough girls to get friend zoned a few times.
I've been where you are though, so don't dispair! It doesn't even take that long. If you are self conscious about your dancing, then dance in the mirror. Make sure to have music playing also. Most of dancing is just swaying to the beat. But if you are not swaying with a beat, then you will look kinda silly, unless you can pull off a really good "I'm on the beat, you're the one that's off" look.
