I think rabbit is for women who loves direct contact with their clits. Many of us enjoy a kind of frottage more (including me). It's expensive too. I've visited various sexshops and the same toy cost over $90.

We use an online store that is very reasonable with prices and does ship discreetly.
For instance, the $60 Rabbit is currently on sale for $18. Nice selection.

I do have a couple of harder toys. I have a glass toy and a metal one (stainless steel, made by njoy).
Harder toys have their place and time, I guess. But I prefer softer toys that are more realistic.

For me a dildo is a phallic devise. Needs to looks and feel real, or real big if that's what's needed.
Vibrator can be any shape or material. And typically I don't penetrate with one. The exception to this being the cute little egg I'm going to get out of my purse and slip inside me here in a little while........
