so how high maintenance are you? well what i mean is, what is your daily routine, how much time do you spend on yourself weekly/daily or how much time do you spend in preparation for a date.
I don't think i'm high maintenance, I like to think i'm well groomed instead. I have my routines for me and me only, i'm not concerned about looking good for other people, I want to look good for me. If i'm going out on a date etc, then I want to make extra effort to show who i'm with that I'm looking good for them too. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to make that extra special effort. I expect my dates to make an effort for me too.
I wouldn't go out on a day without my hair sitting nicely, make up definitely done, nails polished and I always have my toenails laquered too.
I tend to match my shoes to my handbag, although if they don't then it doesn't really matter. I love to have my perfume on and sometimes wear it just to sit in the house, I will always have it on if i'm seeing people.
I couldn't bare to go out with messy nails or unpolished/chipped toenails, is a big thing of mine that well groomed hands and feet should always be on show. When i'm out in the supermarket, or in shops and notice girls with chipped nail laquer, or worn off laquer, I wonder why they don't just fix it?
I can't be seen without at least mascara, I've weaned myself off wearing lipstick every single day although its dual function in that it looks great and moisturises my lips, keeping them from drying out.
I tried to go to work one day with no make up on, and within the hour, had nipped to the loo and applied it, I just didn't feel like me.
I'd not dream of showing unshaved/unwaxed armpits, the same with my legs, you'd never catch me with furry legs, I sometimes have to have a little fur on my bits however, thats if i'm between waxes. I'd have to shave in a date emergency though.
I have my make up routine down to 10 minutes for going out to the shops/work etc, but if i'm going on a night out, or a special date etc, I will spend up to an hour on my make up, I'll make sure its perfectly applied and not going to come off.
I wash my hair every two days or so, sometimes will leave it longer if i'm not doing anything, but I love to smell my hair fresh and love to see it clean and shiny.
I have naturally curly/frizzy hair so to wash and tame it takes an age. I wash and condition it, let it dry naturally if I have time, then run the straightners through it, sometimes i'll curl or wave it with them, finish with high gloss serum and it will stay like that for a couple of days.
If its just been straightened, then it is fine with a brush run through it for a few days.
Every week, I defuzz, apply tan if i'm feeling pale, do facial and body scrubs in the shower, apply face mask, then serum, then a final hydrating mask.
I'll do a mini pedicure, removing the previous nail laquer and reapply fresh.
Every day when I shower, I apply body moisturiser all over (dry skin is a pain) apply collagen gel to my face, neck and bust, then my spf30 day moisturiser and finally my make up.
I have handcream by every sink in the house, and apply it religiously.
every night before bed, I remove all my makeup, cleanse tone and then apply anti aging serum, eye gel, and finally my night moisturiser, i moisturise my neck and bust and finally my feet hands and knees. (its a total habit now)
I remember my mum having all of these rituals, if our doorbell rang in the house, the first thing my mum would do, would be grab her lipstick, put a dab on, fluff her hair then answer the door I'm not quite that bad, but I've def picked habits up from her.
My sister on the other hand, washes her hair and leaves it to dry, applys a quick slick of moisturiser, lumps on foundation and mascara and thats her done. She never polishes her nails, never shaves her legs unless going somewhere special, does keep her armpits hairfree but thats her regular routine in a nutshell.
she's always astounded when she's in my house at the amount of anti aging creams, serums etc I have, that I actually use them, and that I can be bothered to do it all. However, she isn't averse to coming and asking me to give her a facial, or manicure when she feels in the mood.
so anyway, just my musing after my PM chat today and it got me wondering, how high maintenance are you?
(to clarify a point, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with not being groomed, just asking how much you actually do)
