I would take it in a lump sum now as opposed to annuitizing it. That would net to about $175 million in a single payment. So here's my breakdown
In Millions of Dollars:
Trust fund for J and I: 20 (with death benefit remainder to be divided amoung our kids)
Trust fund for D: 10
Trust fund for L: 10
Trust fund for K: 10
Donation to the Cleveland Clinic: 10
Donation to the College I work at: 20
Donation to the private HS the two girls went to: 10
Build a house for each of the 3 kids: 5 million total
Rehab / rebuild J and my present house 1
Form a family foundation with the remaining 66 and appoint myself and my three kids as CEO in succession. The foundation would give gifts to institutions, organizations and individuals dedicated to rebuilding community.
Thats my idea of heaven. What would you do with $290 million?

Finally move out of the parents house and find something near my university.
I would take all my friends to hawai for a couple of weeks in the summerholidays.
A big part would be invested or put it in some kind of savings.
Buy myself a camera, get some kind of showerinstalled that drops moneybills down the showerhead and give you guys a showershow
Buy myself a new laptop. this one is getting old and it doesnt help that I use it as a pillow in bed half of the time I am on the livechat talking to you guys.
I would give a big part of it to my parents, make sure they dont have to work ever again. pay off the house and live in some luxery.
I would give a part to my brothers aswell, because they are always sweet and they support me in everything.
I would also buy ADD a flightticket so he can finally meet up with saintnailpolish.
Ah yes! and some sextoys, would love to try some of them out there, including a sybian

Buy up all the other land around my ranch and then build my dream house, I don't want a mansion but I do have a nice large house plan picked out. Go to Disney World for at least a month or more to hide-out and stay in the Presidential Suite. Definitely set up a nice trust fund for my daughter and pay off all the bills of my close family members that could use the help and then after Disney, not sure, would definitely find some new projects to start and invest in too...

First I would find myself a lawyer to set it up so that my identity is never made public and my tax planning is well done. Then, I would contact a shrink, because I'm sure I'd be dying to tell someone.
After that, I would set up an education foundation to start a school in a developing country - perhaps Nicaragua. It would start with teachers being sent from developed countries (ideally, in this case, Nicaraguans who have emigrated to the US or other countries and become teachers) to bring quality education and then give future local teachers the opportunity to have quality teacher training (probably abroad) with the goal of them teaching in the school. As I've mentioned in other threads, from my experience, many of the problems in the local countries stem from lack of critical thinking skills. In order to spread this, it will have to start with children; the adults aren't going to magically start analyzing their situations and decisions. Ideally, the students and the school itself will go on to demonstrate to others the value of critical thinking, recognizing one's ability to succeed with effort and hard work, etc. Hopefully, the benefits of the school will spread much wider.
I would also look into donating to other organizations. One of them is Girl Effect. My primary goal is always to give people tools they need while not doing very much outright giving, as I've seen that result in people NOT taking responsibility for themselves and feeling helpless and dependent on the help of others.
Of course, I would keep some money, but I have no interest in living extravagantly. I would, however, go immediately to grad school! Don't get me wrong - I would do some very selfish unnamed things, too.
I would also find ways to bring many of the people I met in other countries to the US for education opportunities, but it would be tricky as I'd want to keep my identity as the benefactor private. The reason is that they were so generous to me while I was there; I'd love to be able to pay them back in some way.
My family is doing well on their own. They don't need help. Also, we aren't close, and we differ philosophically. If I were to give them money, they would most likely spend it on themselves, and they are already doing well. The other thing that some of them would do is donate it to missionaries, which I vehemently disagree with. If one of them needed help, I would try to provide it.
My friends, well, they aren't doing so well financially, but many of them do not make wise financial decisions. I would try to help them become who they are meant to become without giving them money directly. For example, one had a health crisis a few years ago. I would contribute anonymously to her medical benefit account set up at her bank, as that is a burden that is holding her back from doing other things.
I would probably someday say that I had won the lottery, but I would claim that it was a smaller amount. My reason is that I want to share with my friends and family, but I don't want to get myself into the situation where everybody is begging for things and feeling like I should be or should have been more generous. And that is exactly why I'd get a shrink in the beginning!

Go back to school. Study everything and anything. Travel.
Then figure out how best to give the other $289 million away.
