No serious topics if possible, serious convos about insignificant things are ok and just try and be your normal humorous self, like she's a friend you talk to all the time.
I'm sorry but yes, you have to ask her to lunch on the first phone call, that is kinda the whole point of the call to begin with and if you're relaxed enough she just may ask you out

When I read that I went completely the other way. If she is doing a Master's degree, she is probably be interested in something nerdy, not artsy. But then I probably hang with a different crowd. Most of the people I know (myself included) have graduate degrees in Computers, Public Admin, Business Admin, Political Science, etc. There are no Art History majors in my social group.
What degree is she working towards? That will give some insight into her character.
As for starting conversations that is easy, start with something like: I got your number from so and so, they say you are awesome and I would like to meet you.
Find out something you both like to do and go.

Oh my, I never thought guys would be so much against doing something like a museum thing... When I was doing my graduate degree in Engineering, I didn't want to go visit factories for fun... I wanted to go to a jazz club, visit a flea market, or something different from what I did on my daily routine. Maybe, those would be considered nerdy activities by others, I don't know.

Most important is to be yourself your friends who know her are trying to hook you up for a reason, hopefully because they think you'll work together so dont try to be something/someone youre not because this will be very apparent and could be a deal breaker. Good luck
