If $49 is the cost of the Fleshlight itself, then that's a relatively decent price. I got one for my SO and spent about that much and got his on sale. If the $49 was JUST for the shipping, that doesn't sound right to me.
You can always do a search and find a Fleshlight elsewhere online besides on the Fleshlight site. Try sites like Amazon, etc., to see if you can get a good deal/price. You just have to look around.
If it's not vitally important that you get a Fleshlight brand masturbator, you can check the Adam & Eve site or tons of other sex toy Web sites for male masturbators that will be cheaper because they're not made by Fleshlight specifically. Just search those toy sites for men's toys, masturbator sleeves, etc., and you'll find a great number of the same type of toy at cheaper prices. To find some sex toy sites, check out our Marketplace section (if you're a VIP member). Or you can just do a Google search.
On the other hand, if you really want a Fleshlight and won't accept any other brand/maker of that type of masturbator toy, then the price could be worth it. It's said to be the most realistic toy of its kind out there, and my SO was "impressed" with his. I wrote a two-part review that you should read. Maybe it will help you decide.

I sell fleshlights among other male masterbators and find that a lot to do with the product and price will simply be the brand and the novelty of the stars modelling them. When it comes to the most realistic it would appear that its japanese products that take centre stage.

Cleaning after use isn't really that difficult, you just run warm water over it. Though they do sadly have a problem with dust and oil sticking to them. If you're trying to get that out then good luck.

I've heard good things about Japanese sex toys.
