as long as you do not explore anything sexual, then it isn't cheating,
in this instance it doesn't sound like a sexual experience at all. so go for it!

I was going to say something along those lines.
And besides, there's more than just physical cheating, there's also emotional cheating. If you're getting some kind of emotional kick from someone other than your partner, then its still a form of cheating

And I think that if we constrict ourselves to just our partners in what we are feeling then I think it will create an unhealthy relationship.
I have personally found that relationships where there is no life outside the relationship, then it will eventually end.
In the end if it will make you guilty making these phone calls, then maybe you shouldn't make them.

Is this more of an issue of your SO having jealousy issues?
From what you posted, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to talk to a friend. I'm not sure I get it.
