My mum and dad were thrilled that I loved my room so much. I got to choose the colour they painted it so I choose purple with a silver border around it when they were stripping the wallpaper they found a door behind the paper .behind the door there was a room that had been bricked up. so in curiosity they knocked the bricks down it turned out to be a nursery with loads old toys and old fashioned kids clothing my mum was pleased to find so much historic junk in her new house but she had no clue what she had just awoke in the house. The day we moved in was a horrible stormy day the kind you want to stay in the house and have a hot chocolate maybe that was the gods trying to warn us not to move into the house we should have listened. My new school was a creepy looking old mansion turned school but the students seemed okay. I made a friend on the first day her name is Mary she stays in the house next to our house she said she was glad that she finally had a neighbour since the house had been empty for about eighty years.
I thought it was weird that such a lovely house had been empty for so long as a historians daughter I have always been interested in the history of places we lived near so I decided to ask my mum to help me find out more about our new house. In the usual sense it took us weeks to unpack all our books and clothes we started to feel more at home once we had unpacked all our stuff im not ashamed to say im a bit of a book worm mostly ghost stories. I wasn’t to know I would be living my own ghost story in a couple of months. I went to the library to see if I could find a history book about the house but there was only one it was about the history of the family who built my house and it was it was a very long book.
thThe families name was Logan the head of the house was James Logan It was he who built the house. he and his wife lily had one daughter and two sons there names were ruby, Ollie and Thomas .ruby was 13 Ollie was 8 and Thomas was just a baby of 3 months. lily died giving birth to Thomas that was very common in 1644. James built the house because he wanted his children to one day inherit some property it was very hard back then he and lily had already lost 6 babies all before they had all turned one they were amazed that ruby and Ollie had made it past their first birthday but sadly Thomas had already lost his twin brother at birth and his mother. James found it very hard to live without lily. I found it shocking to discover that when the plague started to ravage Edinburgh and his kids fell ill with it. he went mad with grieve and bricked his kids in the nursery and sat and starred at the bricked up entrance of the nursery and listened to them screaming for help. There was some justice because soon after he fell ill with it and died right were he sat the rest of his days right next to the nursery. When the neighbours started to smell a horrible smell of death scared that the plague had spread this close to to their families they realised that they hadn’t seen or heard their neighbours for weeks they went to the authorities and told them so the police broke down. The door and were horrified at what they found they gave the children a proper burial to remember that its in the past and the father too but they thought it best to re brick the nursery back up. Of course I told my mum and dad what I found out they said you have to remember its in the past now it cant harm you.
