Honey Care Products is creating a “buzz” in the industry with 2 new products, launched at AVN’s 2012 Vegas show. The founder, Maxx Appelman, says “In the three years we have been developing formulas, I can honestly say this is a game changer. Our two newest personal lubricants, encompass local honey, are all natural – and yet, still don’t get sticky” He goes on about how tough this was to do. “You want the health benefits of honey, without the downside of stickiness and sugars that can cause vaginal irritation.” You can see his excitement grow as he even starts recalling obscure facts, like the reason it’s called a honey moon, is due to aphrodisiac honey mead that was drank in Arabian times after weddings. It this energy he says makes up for his young age. “I want to offer a high quality, healthy formula that is cost effective and in the best packaging in the industry. It’s as simple as that”. There is no argument that Honey Care Products does things differently. From their proclaimed “World’s Cutest” bottle packaging, using local manufacturing and being all natural. Speaking to one advisor Mr. Di Massa, he said “In an industry plagued with inferior overseas products and big companies trying to save a buck, our fans tell us how refreshing we are”.
The Honey Team, as nicknamed, claims that “…we aren’t a novelty product. Our fear, being the original honey bear bottle lube, is that we will be grouped in the joke product industry”. They admit, their customers report the package caught their eye, but the repeat business is because of the formula. This success doesn’t come cheap, as imposters are coming out of the woodwork to copy both the formula and bottle. Mr. Di Massa sums it up best when he said “ I will never forget the day I saw a neon green glow in the dark lube in a bear bottle, I’m still shuddering. Please make sure it’s the original Honey Lube and not a cheap knock off”. They are not worried as major press is getting the word out from CNBC to an upcoming Huffington Post article. Where when asked “What don’t you like about bacon lube?” Maxx replied “That it was on Jay Leno!” he laughed. Whispers coming from the company’s headquarters suggest that David Letterman is next on the agenda.
The two showcased projects are Honey Lube and Honey Oil, part of their line of six. Though both similar, the main difference is an oil verse water based lube. Honey Oil, looks like honey and has a floral honey scent where Honey Lube is clear, no scent and tries to mimic natural female lubrication.
Honey Care both started and grew because of one thought a young high school Maxx had. The personal lubricant industry was an oligopoly of big players using harmful chemicals, in cheap uninspired bottles but with expensive prices and needed a shakeup. “We are here to do that, and not let anything get in our way.”
