Girl on yasmin

My g/f has just started taking yasmin last week (the first day of her period). The doctor says to wait a full cycle before having unprotected but the packaging says 7 days (I'm pretty sure it says that). Is 7 days enough to be fully protected?

As for your question I would wait a full month. The pill regulates her cycle. Without that regulation you don't know when she's going to ovulate. 7 days of the pill may be enough to prevent it, but that depends where she is in her cycle. Everyone is different and women don't get memos from their uteri when they ovulate. So I would suggest waiting the full month. Use condoms during that month. If she forgets a pill or switches to a different kind the safest thing to do is use protection for that month. It is possible for her to ovulate if she is for any reason not consistently taking the pill for that month. If she ovulates and you have sex that's all it takes for her to get pregnant.

She was on a different pill quite a while ago and that was a disaster. She was really bitchy etc, all the normal side effects. So we spoke to the doctor about it and he recommended yasmin as it has a much lower dose of something (I don't remember what he said though). My g/f will try it and see how she goes. If she gets like she was last time on the pill, I have no problem with her going off it as I would prefer using condoms than having a shitty moody g/f

So will this hopefully give her less side effects?
