It is in the UK.
I was 27 when I had the snip last year. I have two kids and they are more than enough for my wife and I to look after so the most sensible option was to make sure we wouldn't be having any more.
You'll have it done on the NHS I assume, they won't undo it later on and in fact the guy who did mine said he did it in such a way that it would be nigh on impossible to reconnect it all. If you have a look on the NHS website there is a short video about it. It is a very minor op and providing you follow the after care advice, i.e snug underwear and ice packs then there is very little discomfort.
I was helping unload a lorry the next day and pouring a concrete floor 5 days after the op with no ill effects.
Sex wise it was one of the best decisions I ever made as it has allowed both of us to enjoy sex more as there is no anxiety over pregnancy.
If you want to know anymore then PM me anytime.

He recovered very quickly and it was the best thing he could have done.
It has done wonders for our sex life not having to worry or think about contraception any more.

Short-term: it can take 6 months for the pains to stop
I may be (hope) in the minority but I had pains for months afterwards. Not stopped me from working, fucking and life in general but quite painful. In my case this was due to some nerve damage during the op which is quite common and has different severities on different people.
The aftercare is as already mentioned, get a sports jockstrap / support thing. Ice packs, although I didn't bother, keep the painkillers regular: Ibuprofen & Paracetamol was enough for me but the trick is keep the times regular. After a few days it looks like hell with the bruising but soon settles down.
As I've mentioned I suffered with pains in and around my groin, balls and down my thigh for many months afterwards. But if you do get any issues , get back to the doc's.
Other than that, worth getting it done.

. Frozen peas
were my friend for a few days but the pain
does go away. My girlfriend had her tubes tied as we already talked about it & she already had a 7yo daughter from a previous relationship. We're monogamous & disease free so we dont have to worry about another "suprise" popping up.

I could go into all the gory details of problematic surgery, but all that really matters is that I would do it again! Even with the problems, it was the right choice for my wife and me.
