Preparation and aftercare are important when shaving. I've been shaving since the first wisps appeared and always make sure that I massage a good portion of soap into the hair (stubble or whatever) with hot water to begin with. This softens the hairs and relaxes the skin. I then shave carefully (obviously!), wash off with warm and then cooler water and massage oil or cream into the shaved area afterwards.

It greatly reduces shaving irritation .
