Has anyone else had a similar experience? How were you able to get back to normal? It's been a loooong couple years as you can imagine, and any advice on it from someone who can relate would really go a long way.
Thanks in advance!

We managed to have a couple of kids after trying and trying. Her doctor said taking depo wasn't the smartest move and was shaking his head wondering why the stuff is even still available.
For anyone who is considering it, do yourself a favor in advance and read up about this stuff before making a decision. My wife will be the first in line to tell other women to run away from it...run very fast.

Everyone's different and will react differently to whatever they're prescribed, but imho this stuff is nothing bad news. I was only on it for a reasonably short period of time but it messed me up.
I thought it would be a terrific hassle free method of contraception and technically it was, if you're thinking about the practicality of not getting pregnant, but there's absolutely no perk at all if what you're taking means you have zero sex drive!! -- and that's the least of what this did to me.
Plus, the symptoms creep up on you - everything from all sorts of strange physical symptoms to psychological ones as well. I turned into a bit of a recluse when I was on this and wasn't myself at all. There are support groups for women affected by Depo all over the net.
And there's a reason prisoners, i.e. sex offenders are given a shot of the stuff as an aid in 'chemical castration' - it kills the sex drive. Too many problems to list with Depo, not least bone density loss with increased use, agression, depression, increased hair growth, weight gain to name but a few side effects. I really suffered for the best part of a year while on the stuff, cause it's insidious too, and you don't realise first off what the cause of your maladies is.
I recovered pretty fast once I came off the stuff, but here's my advice:
If your doctor offers it: -
RUN FOR THE HILLS!!

She didn't replace it with another birth control...we talked about it and thought it would be a better option to just let her body sort of reset itself as far as hormone levels and everything.

it made me put on weight, mood swings...sex...i didnt even like kissing or touching...lol. but i still had sex, just not often as it once was.
it was the worse form of contraception i could ever of had.
i was told to go on another birth control about 6-8 months off the depo and it brought my sex drive where it was meant to be and went sky high lol.
