Vegas itself is nice for half a day, or a day. The strip is fun. But when you leave it, it quickly looks and feels very dangerous. I found the gambling scene more interesting in Macau. I don't gamble, but I loved to watch their attitude. The stakes were so high, it was unbelievable. Fun!

I second the Fremont Street suggestion & NewYork-NewYork 'coaster. I've been to Vegas a few times & have always had the best time walkin' up & down Fremont w/ my buddies. Gotta confess, one of those times was at 2am & they were sweepin' everything up but bein' 2am prob'ly added to the fun.
The 1st time I went I stayed at NY-NY & the 'coaster ran right outside my room & it even goes through the lobby. I'm not a rollercoaster fan but that did look really cool. NY-NY has a really cool atmosphere, feels like the streets of NY(w/o gettin' mugged haha). Oh & the main draw to me was the ESPNZone, has games(not gambling) & plenty of TVs.
If u ain't been in 10yrs, I suggest walkin' around & checkin' out the new Casinos/Hotels. Just take a stroll down the Strip, it's a great way to fill a day & there is PLENTY to see. The 2nd time I went, I stayed @ Encore at Wynn Las Vegas about 3yrs ago & just the scenery of it was 1st Class(kinda has an Asian flare).
My comparison of Encore/Wynn & NYNY is: the E/W is more upscale w/ high $ stores. NYNY is to me just as nice w/ tons of stuff to do in the lobby/ground floor.
I'm plannin' a trip with friends next year & I'm definitely stayin' at NewYork-NewYork.
If I remember right the Mandalay Bay is connected to a few other Hotels(NY-NY I think is one, if not it's close 'cause I visited Mandalay when I stayed at NYNY) so ya can definitely find stuff to do(& see) other than gambling, I don't gamble either(too cheap haha) & I wasn't bored.
P.S.- Sorry for the long reply.
