This is what I was thinking.
Addiction tends to be something that stays on a person's mind / in their desires. So when your mind is focused on something, eventually, it's going to effect your actions.
Like dieting. You're doing well, but it's hard and you have a craving for the fat, greasy, food. You're thinking about it, and your mind stays on it. Then it's only a matter of time before your weaken and eat it. Thus, you have to get busy and put your mind elsewhere and not allow it to invade your thoughts.
So, for addiction, sometimes having other things to do helps. When your mind is not busy enough, it's got time to fixate on addictions / obsessions. And thinking about it, the craving and why you crave it - well, it's a ticking time-bomb.
