But I cant swim. Nor am I comfortable in the water without someone within reach of me capable of pulling me out.
Even my sister didnt know. She invited me over last week and told me to bring my swim trunks since she wanted to take me to the Y where she has a membership. Told her I dont own trunks because I dont swim. She said go get some and I said no because for one im still overweight(although I have lost quite a few pounds) and secondly I dont wanna make a fool of myself.
She responded shes overweight too(although I dont consider 5'6" and 150 pounds to be overweight for a female) and if anyone made fun of me she would kick their ass. Shes 38 and a law enforcement officer.
She got me in the pool and I actually swam about 20 feet! Not enough to call me a swimmer but its a start. It was just her and I there and she said once I relaxed and got over my fear I did just fine.
She warned me not to overdo it and almost had to pull me out of the pool lol. Went to her place and crashed in her spare room. Was tired as hell but a good kind of tired if you know what I mean!

I earned my WSI (Water Safety Instructor) many years ago and part of that training had to do with Offshore survival. I never thought I'd use that part as my plan was to teach private lessons to children but on several occasions I ended up using that part of my certification.
It amazed me that there were so many men who went offshore to work on rigs but couldn't float or anything. All of their survival is taught with life jackets or life boats so in the event they's fall off the rig many go just drown. I ended up having one guy over at the house who admitted he could not swim. I got him in the pool and told him he's earn a Margarita for everything he did to impress me. Others were here cheering him on and hubby ended up making him a couple of pitchers! He was excited and sent a couple of his buddies over.
Funny how I simply changed the fact that I reward the kiddos with popsicles into rewarding the big boys with alcohol! LOL
