I stopped drinking at an early age and I have no interest in church or women who attend it so I've had to find other ways to meet women, and although I'm not as old as you, most everybody I know is married and so are all their friends, so its not like being 21 again. you gotta get more creative.

basically what i did is i found various interest groups. i am interested in a lot of different things. different kinds of dancing, nature interests, art, music, games, etc. so i found a lot of clubs and went to them. some had people that i hit it off with, and some didn't.
thats probably the best way to meet people. that way you can have fun doing something you enjoy--your attitude should'nt be to meet single women, just to have fun doing something you enjoy with people you like. then after several months, you probably will find that you start to meet single women.
i agree that partner dancing classes are the best way to go, if you like music and dancing. it puts you in contact with women...and honestly, women love a guy who can dance. even some of the less attractive guys will have tons of girls swooning over them because he can make them feel wonderful on the dance floor! i used to suck at dancing...now i love it. just remember, you should never start dancing with the idea of picking up women, because that won't work...you have to want to dance, learn how to dance well. then you'll get good, and you'll enjoy it for the sake of enjoying it. and then picking up women will sort of happen later, as an afterthought... (and you will wonder why you ever felt lonely to begin with!)
