If there was a bacteria thing going on between you and the girlfriend, you would notice a smell or issue.
Are you having frantic sex and is she wet enough?
It may simply be the friction between sex organs.
Over here in UK there are some great new lubes from Durex. The flavoured ones are fab, with the cherry being my wifes favourite.
Give that a try, won't do any harm as they are water based.
If you don't fancy the lube, then orally pleasure your girlfriend prior to intercourse. I always try to bring my wife off first so she is generally well lubricated prior to fucking.
If you were having and skin problems or issues, it would affect you hands and body as well. If that was the case I would suggest better nutrition such as fruit etc and plenty of water.
Hope the above helps.

Use water-based lubes; however if it's the outside skin of the foreskin that's cracking, it really sounds like a dermatological thing...like dry skin patches or something.
As always, if you're terribly worried see a doctor and insist on seeing another doctor if the bastard suggests circumcision.

But it could also be an irritation...you been using a new laundry detergent/fabric softener? Rubbing them out more often than normal? Using a new lube with an old sex toy, or a new sex toy to replace a worn out old one?
Sounds like you should just get one of those topical steroid creams at the pharmacy and just apply it for a few days.

It's causes the foreskin to dry out and become uncomfortable. It men is not a huge deal, It's more of an issue with women.
