The best gift I ever gave someone in my opinion was my love, thats surely the best gift you can give anyone, however the most elaborate gift i've given was booking and paying for a secret holiday, keeping everything secret and booking the things on it that he'd wanted to do for years. It took me months of planning and covert question asking etc, it was totally worth it when I told him we were going and gave him the list of scheduled things he was booked to do.

Also my first boyfriend had gotten together with my best friend (thats how i met him) and planned this surprise for me for something, i don't remember the occasion. I had gone with her to the mall and she kept insisting i buy something nice and cute she said she wanted to go take pictures (that was really popular to do.) So i bought some new jeans and a cute top and we went to go take photos. When we finished he was waiting on a bench outside roses in hand and dressed very nice. He gave me the roses and tied to one of the stems was a james avery heart shaped ring! We then went back to his house where he had set the table nice and cute and was making dinner for the two of us. After dinner we went and sat on the roof of his house and he had bought me my favorite dessert at the time. It was memorable.

The most elaborate gift I have received would probably be my wedding ring from my husband. He let me custom design a ring and he paid the bill. Also, for one of our first dates he planned a very nice surprise date for us and had several fun activities planned and he had gone to some trouble to plan it all and I still remember that date to this day.

The most elaborate gift I ever received was from my future wife. I had been away on business for a long time - 3-4 weeks. This was before the days of the internet, skype and webcams, so it was getting us both pretty frustrated with the time away. She had the keys to my apartment to pick up mail for me and to keep an eye on the place. While I was gone, she put little notes on a pack of post-it notes and hid them all over the apartment - that was the first week. Then, since I wasn't coming back right away, she started blowing up balloons. She literally covered the floor of the entire apartment with balloons by the time I got back. The best thing was she greeted me at the door wearing only 3 balloons and a very big smile. I still have the post-it notes.
