This is intended as general advice from experience and not in any way "expert advice"
Doc Johnson makes a three pack that is nice for the beginner. The small one is just barely any larger than a finger (at least when compared to my short thick fingers) the medium one is well, about the size of a rather large hard movement (sorry for the image but when dealing with the anus best stick with descriptions that feel familiar) The large one, well, that would be best left for much later in butt plug training as (in my experience) would be far too large for someone with your level of experience with anal things. The important thing is to work up slowly. Going too fast can cause damage to the sphincter which can result in at best, a lot of pain. If you ever feel like your head is spinning and your legs are weakening then you have gone too far. Lube truly is your friend, use lots of it. There are some very good water based lubes out there if you don't like the silicone based ones (they can be very hard to remove sometimes). Start slowly with lots of lube and your fingers to get used to the feeling of having something poking in there, once you have relaxed your anus, start by lubing the plug and slowly (I said SLOWLY damnit!) pushing it little by little into your backdoor. If at any time you start to clench, back off a little and work up some more. I find it is kind of like meditating. Breath, relax, breath, relax, breath, relax. Repeat that over and over to your self until you slowly work up to the thickest part of the plug. Once past the "hips" of the plug the rest is downhill, literally. When you pass the "hips" of the plug your anus should pull the rest up and in on its own. Make sure the base is nicely snug in your crack (sorry again) and not uncomfortable. Once in, lay back and enjoy the fullness. Masturbation can be much more fun like this and after some time of doing this you will feel comfortable to leave it in for longer periods of time. (the first time will likely not last very long as the muscles of the anus will start to ache) The fun thing is that you are a woman. You also have another spot that plugs can be used in. If you do purchase a starter set or multiple plugs, the next size up should fit nicely in your vagina and that can also be a pleasure ( that spot too can be worked up to larger sizes and many women find that very stimulating)Once you are comfortable wearing one for say, an hour or so (maybe more, who knows) try doing things like house work with one in, it can be a dirty little secret and the friction from walking/moving around is very stimulating. It is not generally advised to sleep with one in, but, as someone who is fairly experienced in self plugging, I find that it can be quite an enjoyable experience, but again, that is pretty much for someone who is experienced. If you are just beginning to plug then don't try to sleep with it in right away. Also a few things to watch out for: most people can't handle sitting flat on a plug at first, it is fairly uncomfortable. When beginning to plug it is probably best to make sure you have just had a movement or an enema just before starting to make sure your rectum is empty. It can be very uncomfortable to insert a plug in there when full and get packed, not to mention, your body will be constantly trying to push it out. The most important thing to remember is to stay comfortable with the whole thing. If you are uncomfortable then it cannot be any fun.

I also like lube syringes for getting it in easier.
