Yes, it is possible. The chance is small, but there is a chance. It's not 100% safe.
If you're monogamous, then she could go on the Pill before you stop using condoms. If you're not monogamous, then you should be using condoms anyway.
If you're home and seeing her after not having seen her for a while, then not having sex at all when you're sure she's expecting sex would be a disappointment - for both of you. There's no reason why you shouldn't or can't have sex while you're home. You just have to think about safety if neither of you are looking to be a parent right now. I know condoms aren't the most comfortable way to have sex, but using a condom and knowing that you're safer is better than having maybe more spontaneous sex but having to wait for her next period to know that she isn't pregnant.
Edit: You could also try other forms of birth control if you don't want to use condoms but she isn't on the Pill. She could use a diaphragm. Or she could use some other forum of birth control that she only needs to take or have done a few times a year. She can go to her gynecologist and get a shot every three or four months.

I think the pregnancy question has been answered, but I'd like to caution you against having anal sex without a condom. You can get some pretty nasty infections that way. Also, never swap between ass and pussy...even with a condom. Unless you change condoms in between, you run a very high risk if giving her some serious bacterial problems in her vagina.
